Develop consistent technique, court awareness, and team communication in ball control, defense, passing through high-repetition game-like execution.

## Setup & Court Layout
-
Players: 1 defensive player (2 for variation), coach or tosser on a box

-
Court: One side of the court with four corners marked with floor tape

-
Equipment: Volleyballs, box for coach/tosser to stand on

-
Roles: Coach (or player) directs balls into corners, defensive player pursues and makes contact

## Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Mark the four corners of one side of the court with tape.

-
Defensive player starts in the middle of the receiving court in a ready position.

-
Coach (or player) stands on a box across the net and hits, tips, or tosses balls into the four corners.

-
Defensive players must make contact with every ball before it hits the ground.

-
If a ball lands untouched in a corner, assign a penalty (e.g., -1 point or conditioning).

-
Adjust difficulty: a slower pace emphasizes controlled contacts, while afaster pace turns it into conditioning.

-
Run each round for 30–45 seconds of continuous reps or 10–12 balls per player, then rotate.

## Key Coaching Points
-
Ready Position: Stay low, weight forward, and balanced on the balls of the feet.

-
Quick Reaction: Explode toward the ball with first-step speed.

-
Communication: Call the ball loudly with every defensive move.

-
Aggressiveness: Encourage relentless effort to keep the ball alive.

-
Coach Control: Vary speed and placement to adjust difficulty and conditioning.

-
Common Game Situation: Prepares defenders for chasing down tips, corner shots, and deflections in extended rallies.

This drill is excellent for building both defensive hustle and conditioning, as it provides players with game-like pressure to cover space aggressively.

## Variations & Progressions
-
Two-Player Version: Add a second defender to increase ball speed and demand communication.

-
Down Ball Variation: Coach uses tips or down balls instead of hard hits.

-
Competition Mode: Track how many balls each defender successfully contacts in their round.
