## Objective
Develop consistent technique, court awareness, and team communication in ball control, defense, passing, setting through high-repetition game-like execution.

## Setup & Court Layout
- Players: 2 lines of defenders on each side of the net, 1 setter and 1 hitter per side

- Coaches: One on each side, tossing or throwing balls into the net

- Court: Full court with players alternating turns

- Equipment: Volleyballs, net

## Step-by-Step Instructions
- Divide players into two lines per side with one setter and hitter positioned on each court.

- Coach tosses or throws a ball into the net to simulate a poor pass or blocked ball.

- Defender reacts quickly to dig the ball up to the setter.

- Setter delivers a controlled set to the hitter, who catches the ball instead of hitting.

- If the hitter could realistically attack the ball, the team earns 1 point.

- Coaches alternate tossing into the net on both sides so the drill runs simultaneously.

- Suggested reps: Play to 5–10 points per round, or run for 8–12 minutes total.

## Key Coaching Points
- Defenders must stay low and balanced, anticipating quick reactions.

- Stress the importance of reading the net rebound angle.

- Passers should focus on lifting the ball high enough to give the setter time to adjust.

- Setters must square shoulders to the target for consistency.

- Common Game Situation: Simulates real rallies where balls ricochet off the net or block, requiring defenders to save the play and transition into offense.

This is a high-rep defensive drill that builds confidence and quick reactions when saving tight net balls.

## Variations & Progressions
- Rotational Challenge: Defenders rotate to setter, setter rotates to hitter, hitter rotates to passer line.

- Advanced Play: Instead of catching, the hitter completes a live attack.

- Difficulty Increase: Coaches throw balls into different points of the net for variety.
