## Objective
This drill develops setter quickness and awareness by training them to transition rapidly from the back row to the net. It also reinforces communication, passing accuracy, and setting-to-hitting connections under pressure.

## Setup & Court Layout
- Players: 3 players start face down on the serving line: setter, middle back, outside hitter

- Coach: Positioned with volleyballs to initiate each play

- Court: Half or full court with net

- Equipment: Volleyballs

## Step-by-Step Instructions
- Coach slaps the ball as the signal for players to react and stand up quickly.

- Coach immediately tosses a ball to the middle back passer.

- Setter sprints to the net and prepares to set.

- Middle back makes a controlled pass to the setter.

- Setter delivers a set to the outside hitter.

- Outside hitter makes an aggressive hit over the net.

- Players rotate lines: passer → hitter → back of line, while setter resets on serving line.

- Suggested reps: Each setter completes 8–10 transition sets before rotating, or runs for 6–8 minutes total.

## Key Coaching Points
- Encourage setters to explode out of base quickly on the coach’s signal.

- Stress the importance of proper footwork and balance before setting.

- Remind passers to deliver a high, accurate pass that allows the setter time to transition.

- Hitters should call loudly and attack with intent.

- Common Game Situation: Replicates real transition scenarios where setters must react instantly to free balls or defensive touches and set in rhythm to attackers.

This is a fast-paced, reaction-based drill that sharpens setter instincts while keeping passers and hitters actively involved.

## Variations & Progressions
- Scoring System: Award 1 point for each successful in-bounds hit after a quality set.

- Setter Rotation: Rotate setters more frequently to ensure multiple players gain reps.

- Advanced: Add a blocker to challenge the hitter and make sets more game-like.
