Drill Setup- Players: 3 hitters, 1 setter, 2 passers on one side; 3 blockers on the opposite side
- Court: Full court, focusing on front-row offense against blocking defense
- Equipment: Volleyballs, net
- Roles: Coach initiates with toss, passers receive, setter sets, hitters attack, blockers defend
- Coach begins play with a toss to a passer.
- Passer delivers the ball to the setter.
- Setter may set any hitter, running standard team plays or quicks.
- Hitters attack aggressively against the block.
- Scoring:
Offense earns 1 point for every hard-driven ball that lands past the block.
Blockers earn 1 point for every significant touch or stuff block at the net. - Play continues with the coach initiating new balls.
- After several rallies, rotate setter and passers to the opposite side so all players practice multiple roles.
- Suggested reps: Play to a set score (e.g., 10–15 points) or run for 8–10 minutes per round.
- Two-Hitter Rotation: Use only two front-row hitters and add a setter for both sides.
- Scoring Adjustment: Award 2 points for a stuff block, 1 point for a controlled block touch.
- Tempo Focus: Force the setter to run quick-tempo sets to test the block’s reaction.
- For Hitters: Emphasize aggressive swings with vision—aiming for seams, hands, or deep corners.
- For Blockers: Stress timing, footwork, and closing the double block. Only count meaningful touches.
- For Setters: Vary set choices to challenge the block.
- For Passers: Deliver quality passes to give the setter full options.
- Common Game Situation: Simulates real match offense vs. defense battles where strong sideout hitting meets disciplined team blocking.
