This is a great drill for players to work on serve receive and hitting at the same time.

Serve Receive Transition to Hitting Drill

Setup

1.  Two groups of 5 players on each side of the net: 3 passers, one setter, and one server


Instructions

1.  One team starts the drill by serving the ball to the opposing team.

2.  The receiving team passes the ball to the setter, knowing if they pass it, they will be set the ball to hit.
3.  After the setter sets to the player who passed, the passer now hits the ball to the opposite team.
4.  The hitter can also call out, "outside, middle, or back" to help teammates get in position to cover their hitter.
5.  Alternate who the serving team is every time a play is over.

Variations

1.  Can keep score to make it more game like.

Coaching Points

1.  Coaches should explain to the hitters that in order to get a good set, it starts with a good pass.
