Drill Setup- Players: 3 active players inside the 10-foot line; 3 lines of players waiting behind the end line
- Court: Half or full court, depending on team size
- Equipment: Volleyballs, net
- Roles: Coach initiates play, active players execute pass–set–tip sequence, waiting players tag in
- Coach begins by tossing a free ball or down ball into play, alternating sides of the court.
- Active players execute a sequence: pass → set → tip the ball into the 10-foot line area on the opposite side.
- After making contact, the player must run back, tag a teammate, and rotate out.
- Tagged player enters the drill immediately, maintaining only 3 players on the court inside the 10-foot line at a time.
- Rally scoring is used to track points, with a set goal (e.g., play to 10 or 15).
- Suggested reps: Run 2–3 games of 8–10 minutes each, ensuring all players get multiple rotations.
- Add Defense: Place a back row defender on each side to dig tipped balls and extend rallies.
- Attacking Option: Allow attackers to swing hard instead of tipping for advanced groups.
- Speed Challenge: Reduce time allowed for tagging in to increase pace and conditioning.
- Hustle: Players must sprint to tag teammates and enter quickly.
- Communication: Call every ball clearly to avoid confusion.
- Technique: Emphasize controlled passes, clean sets, and accurate tips to target areas.
- Awareness: Ensure only 3 players remain active inside the 10-foot line.
- Common Game Situation: Replicates fast-paced transition rallies where fresh players must quickly enter and contribute.
