Volleyball: Passing Free Balls to Setter
This volleyball drill helps players understand proper movement for free ball transition, when passing to the setter.

PASSING, SETTING, TRANSITION, FREE BALL BALL CONTROL, DEFENSE, OFFENSE
1. 6 players on the court in defensive positions
2. Coach tossing free balls
Drill Instructions
1. Coach will toss a free ball, setter yells, "free ball," and transitions quickly to target position at net.
2. As players are transitioning, coach tosses ball to where one player should be standing if in the correct position
3. Players call the ball and makes a pass to the setter
4. Setter sets the ball high outside to the left front hitter
5. Hitter catches ball and bounces to coach under the net
6. Players return to base positions and repeat
7. Rotate after a set number of passes
1. More advanced, have the hitter make a full approach and hit the ball over the net
Drill Coaching Points1. Coach is watching for quick transitioning
2. Making sure setter and/or team is yelling "free ball"
