Held Ball

An illegal contact violation where a player catches, scoops, or allows the ball to momentarily rest in the hands or arms rather than rebounding cleanly.

Hit

An overhand, forceful strike on the ball above net height aimed at terminating the play into the opponent's court; also referred to as a spike or attack.

Hitter

An offensive player responsible for attacking the ball over the net; categorized into outside hitters, middle blockers, opposite/right-side hitters, and back-row attackers.

Hitting Efficiency

The definitive offensive stat measuring attacking output, calculated as: (Kills - Errors) / Total Attempts.

Hitting Percentage

An official statistical metric measuring offensive efficiency calculated as: (Kills - Attack Errors) divided by Total Attack Attempts.

Hybrid Serve
